If you like books that demonstrate themes of friendship, loyalty and how creativity is power, Sky Raiders is for you. It follows the story of young Cole Randolph as his friends are kidnapped into another land called the Outskirts. Cole decides to follow his friends and their captors down a hole. When he arrives in the other world, he sees his friends being pulled away in cages on wheels. He follows them but is soon captured and receives a bond

Nicolas Galatonov mark, showing everyone he is a slave. He is quickly sold to an old man who takes him to the Sky Raiders base. He meets Jace, a confident but cocky boy; Mira, a nice and friendly girl and Twitch, a quiet skinny boy. They show him around and tell him he is a scout so he is brought onto the floating islands with castles and has to decide whether they have any items worth grabbing or if it is too dangerous to loot. On a mission, Mira and her shaping 2y
Nicolas Galatonov teacher join the looting team. Shaping is a power that people have in this kingdom that allows them to mold matter into items that can do a lot of things. Some people are more gifted with it while others aren't. They think Cole has defused the island but then a few monsters come out and attack. Cole risks his life to save Mira. They manage to kill the monsters but not before Mira's teacher is mortally wounded. Everyone else on the ships have to 2y
Nicolas Galatonov escape because the castle's crossbow's are attacking them. They go down bellow the castle and extract a few stones that keep the castle afloat and use them to shape a tiny flying vessel. They load it with jewels and treasures to bring back. Before they set off, Mira's teacher reveals that Mira isn't actually a slave but a princess who's powers were taken by her dad, the High Shaper(king). They were in hiding but needed to escape soon because the 2y

Nicolas Galatonov High Shaper got word of their location. They barely get back to the base on the vessel. The next morning, a man named Joe shows up. He says an army of legionnaires are approaching. When they show up, they say they need to buy a certain slave. Cole makes a scene and escapes with Mira to the port. Jace, Twitch and Joe follow them. They take a flying vessel and escape. The legionnaires follow them but lose the group in the cloudwall. Cole and his 2y
Nicolas Galatonov friends find an old strong shaper named Declan. Him and his colleagues gives them items to help them stay away from the legionnaires. He also tells them that Mira's power is slipping away from the High Shaper and that it is taking form somewhere in the Kingdom. He tells the group to seek out Berta who will help them. They go all the way to Berta and she tells them that a monster named Carnag has been wreaking havoc in villages and that Carnag is 2y
Nicolas Galatonov probably the form that Mira's shaping took. They seek out Carnag and start to fight it. Carnag is a giant made of dirt, rock, houses and any other matter that it could get its hands on. Carnag shapes the ground around them to try to trap or hurt them but the group holds out. They are finally captured by Carnag and put into cages that she molded into her body. They use shaping to make their way into the center of Carnag and find a woman there 2y
Nicolas Galatonov “guiding“ Carnag. Carnag wants what is best for itself and thinks the woman is helping her but in reality shes's just helping herself. They fight them on the inside and finally defeat Carnag. They then discover that Mira's sister is in danger in the next Kingdom so they set course there. The point of view is third person limited. We know this because the narrator follows Cole and refers to him by his name. We also sometimes get a view at Cole's 2y
Nicolas Galatonov emotions and what he is thinking in that moment. Usually we just follow Cole and get to see what is going on though. 2y
MissYaremcio Thank you for the review Nic! This looks like an interesting book! 6/6 2y

If you like books that are filled to the brim with comedy, friendship and loveable characters, Magyk is for you. This is the first book in a series by Angie Sage. This story follows the Heap family; composed of Sarah and Silas Heap, 6 sons and one adopted daughter. Jenna, the daughter, was a baby found alone in the snow the night that Silas's seventh son was born. When Silas returned home with the baby girl, he was shocked to see the midwife rush-

Nicolas Galatonov out of his house, holding a baby and screaming, “It's dead!“ They decide to keep the baby girl in place of their dead seventh son. A while later, they find out that the Queen was murdered and Sarah suspects that the baby they found in the snow could be her daughter though she keeps it a secret between her and Silas only. With the Queen and ExtraOrdinary Wizard, Alther Mella, dead, the Surpreme Custodian(an evil man that works for DomDaniel) is put 2y
Nicolas Galatonov in charge of the castle. He has Magyk schools closed, gets rid of a lot of Magyk books and makes it known that the use of Magyk should be frowned upon. Alther's apprentice, Marcia Overstrand is then appointed as ExtraOrdinary wizard. Throughout the years, she keeps watch on the Heap family to see that Jenna is safe. 10 years after the assassination of the Queen and the night Jenna was found, Marcia discovers one of the Supreme Custodians spies 2y
Nicolas Galatonov living next door to the Heaps. The spy gets authorization to kill Jenna but Marcia is faster than her and brings Jenna to the Wizard Tower. Outside the doors to the Tower, Marcia discovers a boy from the Young Army(Supreme Custodians guards) frozen and nearly dead under a pile of snow so she brings him to her room with Jenna and warms him up. Silas, his dog, and youngest son, Nicko, come to see Marcia and Jenna. Marcia soon discovers the assassin 2y

Nicolas Galatonov entering the Wizard Tower so she makes everyone go down the garbage shute. They arrive at the bottom of the Tower near the moat and Sally's cafe. Sally is their friend so she lets them use her boat to escape. A Hunter comes and threatens Sally until one of her customers gives the Hunter the information he needs. He then gathers his pack and follows the runaways down the river. When the Hunter catches up, Marcia summons mist and then creates an 2y
Nicolas Galatonov illusion of their boat going farther down the river. The Hunter chases after the illusion while the Heaps, Marcia and Young Army boy(also named boy 412) escape into the marshes to Aunt Zelda's cottage. They stay there for a bit but boy 412 never says a word due to consorting with wizards being against the Young Army rules. One day he explores around and falls into a secret cave where he finds a ring that glows in the dark which allows him to find 2y
Nicolas Galatonov his way to a trapdoor leading to a small room in Aunt Zelda's cottage. Marcia decides to teach Jenna, Nicko and boy 412 a basic invisibility spell and realises that boy 412 is very gifted at Magyk. She then asks him to be her apprentice but he turns her down because he thinks the ring he found is the source behind his power. A message rat from Sarah then arrives and tells them that Sarah and the kids have gone to live with the witches in the 2y
Nicolas Galatonov forest but Simon, their eldest son, has disappeared. Silas decides to go see his family and look for Simon. Simon was captured and sort of locked up in the castle. He talks a lot with the Supreme Custodian and they become friends. A while later, a message rat arrives with a message from the Supreme Custodian pretending to be Silas and telling Marcia to come see him in the castle. She teleports there but is ambushed by his men. She is thrown into 2y
Nicolas Galatonov jail. The Hunter finds out where the kids are hiding and comes after them with DomDaniel's apprentice who isn't too good at Magyk, which is weird considering he is the seventh son of a seventh son. Once at Aunt Zelda's cottage, the Hunter chases Jenna and boy 412. Boy 412 sees the secret entrance to the cave he saw earlier and rushes in there with Jenna. He then leads her back to the cottage where Aunt Zelda has used a Freeze spell on the Hunter 2y
Nicolas Galatonov and has captured the apprentice. She wipes the Hunter's mind and sets him off to go the circus. The apprentice says his name is Septimus Heap but they don't believe him because Septimus Heap died when he was born 10 years ago. Later on, Septimus escapes and finds his way to DomDaniel's boat which is waiting outside the marshes. The kids follow him and Alther's ghost appears and tells them Marcia is kept prisoner on the boat but that they should 2y
Nicolas Galatonov stay put. The three kids use the invisibility spell Marcia taught them and sneak up to DomDaniel's boat. Boy 412 and Jenna board and find Marcia. Boy 412 gives her his ring hoping it helps them but on their way out, they are discovered by DomDaniel. They escape but DomDaniel starts summoning a terrible storm. They get to the cottage and Aunt Zelda hides them in the secret cave boy 412 discovered. Jenna accidentally makes the wall open up to reveal 2y
Nicolas Galatonov a room with a beautiful boat with the a dragon head in the front, dragon wings on the side and a dragon tail at the back. They find out that the dragon is alive and somehow part of the boat. The storm breaks down the walls around the underground room and reveals the sky. The dragon tells them to grab the tiller and steer her while she flies. Marcia escapes from the jail due to boy 412's ring helping regenerate her power and she goes up on deck to 2y
Nicolas Galatonov see the dragon boat flying over to her and DomDaniel's boat. The kids pick up Marcia while the storm causes DomDaniels' boat to sink. The Heaps join the kids and Marcia at the cottage. Aunt Zelda scries and they all discover that boy 412 is actually Septimus, Silas and Sarah's supposedly dead son. Later on, Aunt Zelda does some more scrying and discovers that DomDaniel hired the midwife to say Septimus was dead and deliver him to the Young Army 2y
Nicolas Galatonov nursery where one of his servants would pick him up and bring Septimus to him. He wanted Septimus because he is the seventh son of a seventh son meaning he will be really good at Magyk. When the servant comes to pick up Septimus, she snatches a baby from the midwife's hands not knowing that the baby was actually the midwife's baby and not Septimus. The main theme of this book is how teamwork and being part of a group help a lot when dealing with a 2y
Nicolas Galatonov problem. The theme is made present multiple times in this book. For the main characters to even have survived as long as they have, they needed each other. For example, Marcia saves Septimus from the snow, and she also creates the fog allowing them to escape into the marshes. Also, Septimus saves Jenna from the Hunter by leading her into the secret cave and the kids save Marcia from DomDaniels boat. In contrast, we see just how unsuccessful their 2y
Nicolas Galatonov enemies are because they try to work alone and never combine their powers. An example of this is when the Hunter comes to the cottage with the apprentice. The apprentice follows Nicko to the cottage where he is overpowered by Nicko and Zelda while the Hunter tries to follow Jenna and boy 412 which allows him once again be overpowered by Aunt Zelda and Nicko. I think this book was great and very detailed. I can really agree with the theme of the 2y
Nicolas Galatonov book because I've realised a while ago that doing things alone is a lot harder than doing things by yourself. If one person can do lot, imagine what 2, 3, or more people could do. 2y
MissYaremcio Nicely done Nic! I read the first book of this series but not any of the others, have you read any more of the series? 6/6 2y

If you like books that are filled to the brim with strong determined heroes and full of suspense, then Brisingr is for you. It‘s the third book in the Inheritance cycle by Christopher Paolini. Brisingr follows the path of the young dragon rider, Eragon, and his dragon, Saphira, as they attempt to overthrow the tyrant king of Alagaesia, Galbatorix. Since my last post, I have finished the second half of the book.

Nicolas Galatonov Orik manages to win the election and become King of the Dwarves. This means the dwarves will now assist Lady Nasuada and the Varden in fighting Galbatorix. Saphira reunites with Eragon in Farthen Dur and they fly all they to Du Weldenvarden, the elf forest. They find their masters, Oromis and Glaedr to discuss how Galbatorix is so powerful. They reveal that Galbatorix has multiple Dragon Hearts (Eldunari) in his possession. 3y
Nicolas Galatonov He draws strength from these Hearts. Oromis also reveals that Eragon‘s father was in fact Brom, not Morzan. Eragon goes to the Menoa tree to find a brightsteel deposit. He then brings it to Rhunön who he helps build a Rider sword for himself. He names it Brisingr. Glaedr gives his Eldunari to Eragon for extra strength and so he can communicate with Glaedr. 3y
Nicolas Galatonov Oromis and Glaedr decide to go help the elves in their battle taking over Gil‘ead because there is no use in them hiding and preserving their life because they‘ve taught Eragon enough for him to teach the next dragon riders. Eragon and Saphira fly all the way to Feinster to help the Varden with their siege. They take over the city and with the help of Arya, defeat a Shade. 3y

Nicolas Galatonov Oromis and Glaedr die in battle when Galbatorix takes control of Murtagh and kills them. Brisingr is written from the 3rd Person Omniscient Point of View. I know this because all the main characters are referred to as “He”, ”She”, “They”. While Eragon and Saphira are the main characters, the story is also told from the perspectives of Roran and Lady Nasuada. 3y
Nicolas Galatonov While the 3rd Person Objective Point of View can also be seen from the perspectives of multiple characters, we know the book is written in the 3rd Person Omniscient Point of View because we are told what the characters are thinking and feeling. 3y
Nicolas Galatonov While Rhunön is using her mind to move Eragon‘s body so she can forge his sword, we can see what Eragon is feeling, “The sensation of helplessness kindled a burst of sudden panic within Eragon,” (Paolini, p.669). We get a view into how Eragon is feeling which makes this 3rd person POV, the omniscient type. 3y
Nicolas Galatonov Now that I‘ve finished this book, I‘ve come to fully appreciate Paolini‘s plot planning and the little seeds he planted at the start of the series that are starting to bloom now such as Brom being Eragon‘s father. I still think the story progressed a bit slowly and I can‘t say it was worth the wait. The siege on Feinster was quick and not too exciting. 3y
Nicolas Galatonov I think that the end of this book is rather set to improve the experience in the next and final book of the series because now Eragon has a sword and the start of a plan to defeat Galbatorix. I 100% recommend this series to everyone and I can‘t wait to see how Eragon avenges his teachers in the final book. 3y
MissYaremcio The next book is fantastic! Totally agree though, this one is probably the slowest in the series! ALSO CAT! 6/6 3y
